Quick hello

Newcomer with a quick intro here.
Hello, my name is Jon, I have been into rc for a good few years now but this is my first go at flying anything!
Decided to start off with something sensible so my good lady bought me a J Perkins Twister quad for Christmas. It has taken a few months but I finally managed to get a few free days this week and try to get started.
All charged up, tx and rx talking to each other, first blip on the sticks and only three of the rotors were spinning. The rear right rotor was not moving.
I had read the manual before doing anything and so I attempted to adjust the trim to see if this helped but it didn't. Thought there might be some resistance but again nothing. So I thought maybe just a bit more input on the throttle was needed. This just resulted in the quad shooting into the air, flying backwards and chopping the heads off two flowers that my wife later told me were called peace lilies!! Oops.
So it's fair to say my first steps into the world of multi rotor flight has been......difficult.
On the plus side, I think I am going to get hooked on these things, this could get expensive.

Welcome aboard Jon!

Glad the crash only took out some flowers, and peaceful ones at that!!! :).

If you've got one motor not spinning. It typically means a bad connection somewhere (or bad motor/ESC). Check all the connections - make sure not cold solder joints etc. worst case, swap the "bad" motor (without props!!!!) for a good one to see if the electronics are working correctly for that position. Hopefully that will help you hone in on which component is bad.

Have fun and fly safe (and take it easy on the flowers!)

Hi and thanks.
The peace was somewhat shaky for a while as it turns out the plant is my wife's favourite.
I did pop over to the model shop where it was bought and they advised it was the motor at fault. I have ordered some replacements and should be back for round two pretty soon.
The quad is a clone of the Ladybird/949/mqx etc so parts are nice and easy to get hold of.
I have already been busy googling and looking at upgrades and other possibilities for this platform. First things first though, get it to fly!!

Oh boy. Well, at least flowers can be replanted or grow back :)

Make sure you replace the motor with the same that is on there - r it could cause issues. Sounds like you are getting good help froj the local hobby shop - that's always a plus.

Keep us updated!
