Prop balancing

I was just wondering, when you guys balance your props, do you take material off the heavy side or add weight to the light side? I don't really want to file the heavy side, because it will spoil the shape.

Any ideas are welcome!

Gunter, I scrape the heavy side with the edge of a razor blade. It does not remove much material and leaves a smooth surface. I know some that sand but I like this method. Picked it up from a post in one of the forums. FYI I have not tried this on CF props. Just the usual EPP.

I actually take a hole puncher and punch material out of a thick car foil. With these car foil round stickers i balance the props horizontally by sticking them on accordingly for the vertical balance which mainly has something to do with the propeller shaft being heavier or on one side. I use liquid tape and drop it on with a small pointer untill it is balanced. I dont like scraping some material off a CF prop and the liquid tape comes off again with no props compared to some super glue methods out there.

Thanks guys. Funny, I noticed all of my cw props are all perfectly balanced, but the ccw props are way out...hence the jello on my video. They are epp props.

I'll try this evening.

Cheers,

Gunter.
