Power for my video TX

I am trying to wire up my new Video TX but the instructions are all in either Chinese or Japanese or something like that! I know the RX is 12v but don't know what voltage the TX is. I assume it's either 5v or 6v, which makes sense, but don't want to blow it up! Any ideas?

Ta.

Thanks Ross. Looks like I have to have a separate 3S battery then!

I mean I have a 4s on the heli, so I'll have to use another small 3s and then a 3s on the base station.

Thanks for the help!

ah I see, my mistake mate. Here's an easier answer...dont add another lipos (3s), just get a BEC that gives out 12v or even easier make one yourself:-

There are other circuits out there using 1 chip (Farnell stocks them).

Thanks Ross, but for me I think it might be easier to find a 12v BEC!

Been struggling this evening to get the transmitter to work. Hooked it up to the GoPro and a small video screen, but no joy. I assume when you just connect the TX yellow wire to the yellow wire on the gopro output, it should get a signal through? Gopro has been tested on the telly, so that is working properly. Channels have been set (tried a few different channels). I'll try again when I'm not so tired!

The yellow wire on the VTX is video in, but Im not sure what colour wire is the right one from the go pro? You are plugging it into the bottom socket I hope?

Yes, bottom TV out socket.

Does it need ground as well? (black wire)

Hi Gunter , yes with the gopro and mini cameras with the video tx the ground also as to be connected.
The wires coming out of the tx on the other side will be red , black , yellow , green , white ... Power to camera 12v , Ground , Video Out , Audio , Audio .
I dont know what lead your using with the gopro but first person view sells them which come with the bare wires , and they do one which is compatible for the immersion rc stuff which wont work with what you have .

Thanks guys. Geoff, I did actually just order a cable from first person view, the one with the connector. I'll have to cut it off and solder it directly to the wires.
