PID's or Power System?

I can't get my quad to fly 100% smooth and I'm hoping there is a PID guru around here. I've reset pids and started from scratch a bunch of times, tuning with different methods and still cannot fix this. I can upload an FPV video if somebody thinks this will help.

Hovering and casual flying is no problem. My main problem occurs during ascent, when I punch out I get fast oscillations, as well as when I hold the throttle at about 75% or higher.

I'm running 20a little bees, 2204-2300kv motors with 4s, 75c battery. I realized that my motors are rated 2s-3s, could my battery be causing oscillations? Pumping out too much power?

Also, I'm using ABS props (especially since I'm tuning), with this set up, would these flex too much causing a bit of instability?

Thanks!

Props might be part of your issue. I use cheap carbon fiber ones from RcTimer for tuning and testing. They're dirt cheap ;)

How many amps is the system pulling at higher throttle settings? It may well be too many for the system's design. ESC's are simply lots of tiny switches and you may be over loading them, or the motors, with a 4s.

That's something I have not taken the time to research. I'll have to figure that out.

The motors are rated 2-3s, I'll just have to experiment with a 3s battery.

At the least, I can hopefully prove to myself I'm not a PID tuning failure.

Thanks for your help.

Edit : I'm mainly tuning pitch/roll. What other PIDs should I be looking at to address this issue?

I would not be tuning anything until the current loading was established. PID's will never do anything to correct an electrical fault. Place an ammeter in line with the battery power leads, weight the copter down with enough weight so it can't lift off and run the throttle up. Check the meter. That it flies well in in most areas but gets hinky when at high power suggests you don't have a PID issue. Never chase more than one rabbit at a time.
