Photo higher Halo 8

I am looking to build a large multirotor that can haul either a Blackmagic production camera or a RED Epic And I recently came across the Halo 8. Before I saw it I was mainly looking at the Cinestar 8, Skyjib 8 ti, and the Skyjib X4 ti. The Halo 8 seem like a good airframe and but is it overpriced?

I do not know if any are being flown by customers yet. Price wise, compare them to what a similarly equipped Droidworx or Cinestar costs. The NZ$5200 does not include any motors or electronics or postage to AZ.

My own personal experience with Photohigher and the way they have left 100's of Skyline users across the world in the dark, I would want to see someone else spend the $$$ first to see just how good the frame is, and how good the spares and backup is.
As yet there are no parts or documentation available of their website. If I was you, I'd email them with a request for spares pricing and availability as well as recommended motor and electronics setup. IF you get a reply, at least you will know where to start.

Pete

it does look good though...

I am on the same page with Pete on this one. Having been through a AV 130 AV 200 and what it means to get spares or even reach someone from PH, I would wait to see how things develop ! Eventually i dont even agree with their designs at all anymore knowing a little more about cameras mounts than I did before !

I wish them all the best, but still the track record it not the best for me at least !

I scrapped the plans of the halo 8. I sent them an email requesting additional information regarding the halo8 and halo gimbal and three weeks I have yet to hear a response. They could make the best stuff in the world but if they refuse to answer potential customer questions I am done with them.

As a New Zealander, I find it embarrassing that several NZ companies that may / are able to make an awesome product, simply can't communicate with their customers.

I am aware that Kimberly (PH Owner) is out of the country due to the passing of a parent - but he is not the office manager.
When I spoke to Sue at PH last week, she said everyone was working on Halo at the moment.

They can work on it all they like, I see customers running away daily...

Good luck with your shopping

They probably rent that space to an ad agency and DJI probably specified to the same ad agency that they want to rent space on multirotor themed websites. I doubt it is a hack, what company would be dumb enough to hack a website with their own ad?

Just checked the page source code and its not a rented banner ad. Its hard coded in as the DJI competition banner. Very puzzling.

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
fwiw,
there are a lot of shops out there and anyone can pop open a shop with the standard DJI/DW/AXI/APC offerings and be on their way. write a check, be open for business the next day, i get requests for advertising space weekly from a number of these operations.
having been through the process of designing my own gear, from scratch and not just from a flat sheet of carbon fiber, i can tell you it's a herculean effort that can be triple herculean when
a. you're a closet perfectionist
b. small details don't fall in line
c. outside vendors don't deliver the quality or within the timeframe they've promised.

add to this the prospect that prototypes sometimes reveal design details that aren't up to par with the rest of the project and the workload can become crippling.

Kim Atwell has been a very positive contributor to the multi-rotor community so I'd be inclined to offer him and Photo-Higher a bit more slack. You don't have to buy his products if you don't want to but let's give him the benefit of the doubt that he's trying to bring a great product to market without repeating some of his less favorable experiences.

OK?

Bart
