Phantom 2, connection failed with USB

I am currently working on a Phantom 2 with a friend and am trying to get it to connect with the Assistant software and can't get it to connect with the computer

Laptop: Toshiba, Windows 8


Downloaded the Assistance software and USB driver from DJI.com for Phantom 2.
All are installed.

When i connect the USB cable to the Phantom and power it up, I don't get a green indicator light like I do on my Phantom 1. Then the computer tells me that their was a failed connection last time it was connected.

When I open the Assistant software, I have to click skip as it is not connecting.

Any help on this would be awesome.

Try a Windows 7 machine


I'll try that here shortly when I get a chance, but in the mean time, I don't have any problems with my Phantom V1. Should be easier to connect to the newer version with new computer. But then again, I hate Windows 8 and am thinking about purchasing Windows 7 to be installed on it.
