Okay folks - need some help! NAZA+GPS Carbon Core H650

Upgraded from DJI f550 2 months ago & only have about 15 flights, but just can't seem to dial the settings in like I had on the f550. I've been flying multi rotors for about a year & traditional helis for several years before. Have had the NAZA for ~4 months (purchased November 20th & had immediate success with f550). Flying in a no-wind controlled environment (parking garage) I seem to have it pretty stable...no GPS signal inside but atti mode feels pretty locked in. However, outside in any breeze it seems to bounce around a significant amount & I have erratic descending characteristics. I will post my gains later tonight if anyone has input & similar setup with success.

With that being said - I haven't tested the tape theory on the left side of the IMU. I also don't recal whether or not it was sunny when it was windy...don't have all my variables figured out yet. IMU is mounted on top plate not inbetween plates as it was on f550...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Photo of hex attached - it's a sweet setup!

Will, only a guess but all that foam tubing round your legs could be catching the wind and acting like sails.

Keen observation, but I had the same mount on my f550 with same noodles & no issues in the wind at all. That said, I was using 10" props which have a lot less surface area...

The Naza is definitely susceptible to sunlight hitting the left side of the Naza. It will cause 10' or more fast vertical moves, you have to be very quick if you are close to the ground.

This is not so much of a problem with the Naza between the plates as it is unusual for the sun to hit the side there. I have video that vividly demonstrates this.

The fix is very simple just put some thick black tape on the left side of the Naza and it becomes very stable. I have 2 Nazas and both of them benefitted from the tape.
