No image on GH3 but shutter releases

The camera powers on fine, but there is no image on the FPV, if there is, it disappears once the shutter releases. This may be a setup issue.....any help would be great.

What system are you using?

It's usually an HDMI out setting on the GH3 itself. All depends what system you're running.

Well, I'm new to the S900, it has A2, Zenmuse Z15-GH3 gimbal, I'm using a Futaba T-14SG controller. When the system boots up, I get camera image on the FPV. If I press the shutter release on the camera, the image still appears on FPV, if I toggle the shutter from the controller, the image no longer appears on the FPV, but the shutter release still functions perfectly, but no image. On the camera, under output, it appears to default to the TV out mode, even though I select HDMI mode, which is set to auto. Any help is appreciated...!

Hey John,

Try setting HDMI out to 1080i or something like that. It's the live view that is the problem I think. When you review a video on the camera does that transmit?

I tried that, but when I go back in, TV Aspect is highlighted, even though thats highlighted, is HDMI out still working..?....I haven't shot any video with the camera, only tried pics. Seems like its the live view, my gut tells me it's within the camera settings, I just don't have the knowledge for this setup, my dealer just told me to read the camera instructions...not happy with that..! S900 flies and performs perfectly, its just I can't see anything on FPV after I release the shutter from the controller

I think you go to a different menu (the first menu) a few pages in you'll see HDMI REC Output or something. Have a look at those settings. Might need to play with NTSC/PAL also.

I just noticed that the back panel says TV output in progress....could that be the problem..I have HDMI mode set to 1080i, and HDMI Info Display (REC) set to on

I guess first off, which mode should the GH# be set in to take pics...P,Auto,M...? I know shoot I shoot underwater I'm in manual

Yeah, it says Tv Output in progress when you try to view videos or pics.

I'm pretty sure it's still a camera setting so honestly, do sit down and go through every setting on the GH3 systematically.

For stills and video I use Manual (M).

So you do get an image on your monitor when not recording?

Yes, initially when the S900 boots up, but as soon as I flip the toggle it disappears. The shutter releases, but no image on FPV. Toggle works fine, just can't see what its shooting on FPV

That's it for now. It is a camera setting for sure so get looking through those menus and systematically change settings and try again.

Well....Found something that works....only because it was how I shot with my GoPro on my Phantom....I put the camera in time lapse exposure mode, I have it at 10 seconds, and I can set it for say...600 shots, that gives me about 10 minutes of shooting, then come back home. The camera continues to show up on the monitor in this mode, so it works. I'm going out to fly and get some images in about an hour, I'll keep you posted.. I appreciate all your help with this
