Newbie thrown into a project!

Hi everyone :)

Excuse any terminology I am messing up. I literally touched my first quad rotor around 5-6 hours ago, and know nothing about them.

I was thrown into a rotor project (not 100% forcefully because I was interested) and I was wondering if someone can help with an issue I've come across.

I got the quad fully assembled, and all of the plugs are in the proper place!
I am using a naza flight controller and I replaced a receiver that I found out was broken.

I have managed to connect it to DJI, and did a firmware update, which was much needed since nobody has worked on it in almost a year.
After about an hour of reading manuals, I couldn't get my spektrum dx8 connected, so I tried a different controller. After switching bind plugs, I was able to get the dx4 connected. The micro usb led light went from a fast blinking yellow light to a slow one. When I move the controller thumbsticks around, it is a slow double blink, so I know that the controller is at least connected to the quad rotor. I can not seem to actually get the quad to respond to anything through the controller. I also am having issues getting the quad connected to the naza M assistant. It connects to DJI fine, but when I bring up NAZA M assistant it shows no sign of connection. If it helps any, when I try to do a motor test, it says please connect controller to continue.

Any help will be appreciated considering I have no clue what I am doing. I was asked to get the thing to fly within the next 14 days haha

Thanks!

Check your servo wires are plugged in right way up, on the naza the signal wire of the 3 will be on top, but on your spectrum receiver your signal wire will be on the bottom.

yes I have that one too…
just try and match up the color plugs with the right pin as shown on your device with a + and - and a lil hat symbol that my key bored no have.
good luck!

I finally got it to fly! The receiver satellite winded up being done. I was able to get it to fly but the quad drifts backwards after takeoff. It is a little slow at first but it gets faster. i crashed it twice. Any idea why this is going on?
