New member from the UK

Hi,
I am completely new to the multi-rotor hobby, I have been building and flying helis for a few years now and now I want to branch out and fly Multi's.
At 65+ (older & dafter) I get a bit confused with the electronic side of things with all the numerous control boards and accessories available with their different variations, Flashing and programming etc. I welcome a forum like this where I may be able to learn something new.

Welcome to the Forum Rammylad. Its an excellent forum where there is plenty of excellent advice and help available. Try not to get too bogged down with the technicalities at first, start off simple and straight forward before diving into something more complex. You can get into quads and multis without having to flash or program anything. The DJI Frames and controllers are an excellent starting point... and really fun! I have one as do a lot of people on here and you will find that it is a very common starting point for a lot of people. One that continues to be used even after progressing onto larger and more complex systems.

As your in the UK I cannot recommend www.quadcopters.co.uk highly enough for any purchases or advice, plus they are based over in your neck of the woods (Preston).

Second the Quadcopters recommendation.. The new little DJI Phantom may be a starting point if you just want to fly with out building..

I'm keeping my options open at the moment but I would prefer a 450 to 500 size I quite like building so that would not be a problem, my friend has a RC450 with a MultiWii controller but I wouldn't like to go any smaller than that.

Hi Rammylad, welcome. I get really fed up with all the posts on different forums here, there's not enough time to do me housework...!!!

I too am new to multis (came from RC SRH)and have spent a lot of time reading and learning (no housework again!!) I can give you a couple of years, I'm 67 next Thursday 29th, and find that there is certainly a time lag between brain and thumbs. (Adddress available for cards/presents if needed)

I bought my Gaui 500 from RossMods, just up the road from you but have just bought a DJI F550 with Naza and GPS from Geoff at Quadcopters.co.uk in Leyland. Good chap to talk to as what he doesn't know, etc etc.

You'll find lots of information and lots of people willing to give advice. It's not until you read this forum that you realise exactly how many multi rotor flyers there are in Lancashire (God's Country)

Thanks for the welcome Peter,
I have been looking at the website that you recommended and I think I will save up a bit more or sell a couple of my helis, I like the DJI multicopters with Naza.
There is so much info on here it will take me ages and no housework for the info to sink in lol.
