New iCharger106B+ terminates after 3:01 minutes no matter what mode

All,

I have a brand new iCharger106B+ that terminates after 3:01 minutes and between ~300-400mah in. This is when trying to charge any Lipo battery. I bought this to charge my new multistar 6S 8000mah batteries. I have attached some pics of my settings. I have plenty of experience with chargers and I am lost at what it could be. Any help appreciated.

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
my 306b did this too, try a lower charging rate and keep in mind that your power supply may be failing causing the higher rates to trip up the power supply.

Thanks Bart. Tried your suggestion and still the same problem. I tried 6A,3A,1A,0.5A. I monitored the input amperage and voltage and both were stable during all attempts to get it past 3:01 minutes. I typically run two 6A chargers off this power supply with no problems.

I guess I will try a firmware update/re-install and see if that helps. PITA.

Sorry you're having trouble there! Let's see if we can identify the fault.

1) You should always be using Balance Charge mode.
2) Turn off the capacity cutoff. It's not the fault here, but for LiPos it's just a hindrance. It's meant as a safety setting for Nickel packs.
3) What is the pack/cell voltage when it terminates?

Hi Robin,

Thanks for the response.

I do typically use Balance mode except when I want to get to the field quickly!
I just turned off capacity cutoff and it didn't make a difference.
Here is a pic of the screen showing voltage/amperage just before it shuts off at 3:01 minutes. It gives no error message. I monitored input amperage and voltage and they were stable the entire time.
Measured cell voltage after disconnect from charger is: #1- 3.98, #2- 3.96, #3- 3.94, #4- 3.95, #5- 3.96, #6-3.96

It's a Dell power supply, see pic below of specs.

Just tried a number of things. First, I hooked my two Turnigy chargers to the power supply and set one to charge the 6S 8000mah and the other to charge a 4S 5800mah. Fired them both up and they work fine (ran them for 15 minutes), drawing about 6.6amps between the two of them. Next, I hooked up just the iCharger and tried balance, charge, and fast charge with the same two batteries using 1C amps in and both stopped at the 3m:01 point. I then tried both at just 4amp, 2amp, and 1amp. Same thing, termination at 3m:01. Using the iCharger I again monitored the output of the power supply and it was stable.

Forgot to mention that I also lowered the charge wattage to 100 on iCharger and then tried the 4,2,1 amps with the 6S 8000mah. Same results = Termination at 3m:01.

TGIF! Problem solved! Should have done the firmware update first.
TGIF?? Was going to offer you a "duplicate" setup on my iCharger as I just received my 406Duo two days ago. I know they're different models but from you're photos they have the same menus.
But alas, not necessary. You figured it out!:)

it was the firmware update that fixed it?
TGIF - Thank God Its Friday because I actually had time to mess with it.

Yes, the firmware update fixed it. Charging now so I can fly today! Its gonna be close to 70 and probably close to no wind. I love living in the south when I see the weather up north!
