My New Folding Quadcopter

Rebuilt my combo X-525/Rusty's Rev 8 Frame. I say combo because the folding frame is from the x-525 but the FC plate, camera mount, and motor mounts are all from Rusty's Rev 8 Frame. The photos below show my setup with the 1.2Ghz FPV gear but I just swapped it out this weekend for my new 5.8Ghz gear and I have to say I REALLY like it. No ground station, just the goggles and tiny little antenna. Makes easy work of quick FPV flights. The video below if from my very first test flight with the 5.8Ghz gear.

Goggles: Fatshark Dominator w/5.8Ghz receiver
VTx: Immersion RC 600mw 5.8Ghz Vtx
RC Radio: Dx8 w/Immersion RC EZUHF
FC: Hoverfly Pro - Green + GPS
Motors: Avrotos
Props: APC 12x3.8

Here's my latest from this same frame and my 5.8Ghz video gear. A few shots with my downlink included so you can see what I see.

I love not having to use my ground station, amazing!

That high still shot facing the city with the snow falling is rad. It's gorgeous to anyone who sees it but to a scratch builder it obviously means so much more. FYI, coming along on the modified gimbal but from this is doesn't appear you really need one ;)

Liking that very much, great stable flight.

Impressive footage with gopro. Did you stabilize this in your editor?

To buy the parts & build this from scratch, about how much would it cost including radio and 1 battery?

Thanks! Yeah I couldn't believe how calm it was when I got way up high so I sat there for a moment taking it all in. I would still love to have a gimbal on this thing ;)

Thanks, yes I do stabilize my footage in Final Cut Pro. It's a test for myself to see how smooth I can get the footage. I'm getting pretty close to where I would like to be.

As far as cost, it can add up quick. This particular quad has a Hoverfly Pro flight controller and a GPS which is $900 by itself. But the beauty of this hobby is that there are always less expensive options. Including the radio, goggles and gear it's probably a little over 2k USD.
