I am an Oil & Gas proffessional looking for a highly reliable Octocopter to perform inspection work. I have experienced multi copter pilots that will actually be doing the flying. Both of them have many years in the RC world and have been flying hobby multi copters for the last several years. I have looked at both German made and Chinese made technology. I need equipment that is extremely well tested and reliable as well as a source for repair, troubleshooting and service. I do not anticipate doing any cinema film work, most of my work is in the industrial setting. I will be using DSLR cameras as well as infrared cameras. I would love as many folks as possible to weigh in keeping in mind my objectives and make recommendations of what is good and what is not. Thank you for reading.

I think the bar is set with the Asctec falcon right now. I wonder why you would need a DSLR for industrial use?

I agree, from all that I read the Falcon is a leader. The problem is that Asctec does not have FCC approval in the US so they are not shipping to the US according to an email I received from a company representative. I am thinking DSLR because I have a need for very close zoom shots. If other photo technology can give me the option then I am open.

I think a good HD camcorder, say a sony with BOSS, would be a better option for close zoom, lighter and simple to control with LANC
