Dave, the manual says to set your transmitter throttle at no less than 10% for failsafe. I set mine around 50% but that is my choice to do so, which is above what DJI recommends. Better to be safe than sorry. When I switch off my Tx the slider goes to failsafe and all the channels are centered including the throttle.

is there any reason to set the failsafe throttle to 50%? wouldnt that just give the possibility of a flyaway?

also I never did understand what the reason is for failsafe mode, I cant imagine a situation where you would switch to failsafe mode, as you no longer have control of the heli.

I have been in situations where the multi was at a distance and I lost orientation. I switched to Failsafe mode and the craft returned to home and landed. It has saved my butt and my multi on several occasions. The manual states to set the throttle above 10% in Failsafe. I choose to set mine at 50%, partly because I mostly fly in ATTI or GPS mode. 50% throttle is hovering in those modes and should not cause a fly away. You can set yours where ever you want.

Interesting Ed... return to home I guess you are talking about the wookong then? I have just the naza.

Ive decided not to set up a failsafe switch on my tx as my reciever only has failsafe on the throttle channel. I will never be switching to failsafe manually on the transmitter so I dont need it I guess? Ive set the throttle to go to 0 when signal is lost, so with intelligent mode the throttle will go to 10% i beleive and not actually cut off. So the heli will decend. Does this seem OK?

I hopefully should not ever lose signal anway as I will always be flying at close range and not fpv.

Yes with the Naza it just lands. Just like it does when you hit the second battery threshold. To be honest, with the Naza, I am not sure if you really have to set up Failsafe in the receiver. I have used a AR6XXX and it only has SmartSafe. I turned off the Tx and it landed. I switched the switch to go to failsafe and it landed. These were cases where I really didn't need to use Failsafe but wanted to experiment, read not that far away and not that high. I would rather have it just land rather than fly away. I did have this happen with another quad. Cost me over $600. It is nice to have the feature.

so when you switched transmitter off did the throttle output of the reciever go to 0 resulting in intelligent cut off kicking in and keeping the naza at 10% throttle?

Yes in Assistant the throttle showed 0. At that point, the Naza took over and landed the quad. As far as Intelligent mode goes, I am not sure if it plays a roll in LOS.
