The remote gain allows you to change the gain settings from the TX. Depending on whether I'm flying one of my Naza or Wookong-M I have different setups for each, the Naza I usually have no remote gains unless I'm doing setup for a different frame, props, flying weight, etc. in which case I'll assign both pitch and roll basic gains to the same channel and see what settings work best. For in-flight adjustment I usually have just the ATTI gains on remote adjustment and that is how both of the Wookong-M are setup, that way I can compensate for any changes in wind while flying to keep it as smooth as possible for recording video.

Easiest way to set it up on any TX is pick a channel that has either a knob or slider assigned to it, or pick an unused channel and assign it to an unused knob or slider if the TX has that capability. Connect that channel on the RX to either X1 or X2, or if you want a lot of adjustability use two channels and assign one to each, then you can put basic gains on one and ATTI on the other, very useful for initial setup and getting the correct gain settings dialed in without having to land and hookup a laptop to make changes.

Once you have everything connected go into the Assistant and assign X1 or X2 to whichever gains you want to have remotely adjustable. I find the best way to do it is set the gain to a midpoint setting you want to have, and set the knob or slider to the middle of its travel before you assign the X1 or 2 to that gain. Once you assign the the X to the gain you can use the channels endpoint adjustment in the TX to limit how high or low you can go from the midpoint. Make sure to check the limits at both ends before flying as in some cases it's possible to have an extreme range of change and going to that setting in flight can have interesting and unexpected results. General rule of thumb, keep the total amount of change to a range of +/- 50 either side of midpoint, if you need more than that something is wrong with the setup of the multi, i.e. you have far more lift than the weight requires, or you have too little lift for the weight you're trying to carry.
