I wanted to do the same thing but it was too expensive for me to lift my Nikon D5100 so I sold it and bought a SonyNex5n (just as good as the Nikon) and bought the Aeroxcraft gear and hard mounted the Sony to it.
Got pretty smooth video from it without a gimbal. I had 4s batteries and 10" graupners.
The last 2 photos gave me the idea to buy the Aeroxcraft gear and use it on my F550

I also have the same landing gear and GoPro gimbal. It's great on the 550. I had a DJI prob break mid flight and bent the 2 tubes that slide into the landing gear and hold the gimbal and battery on. Do you know where I can find some the same size diameter. I don't want to pay the shipping from Aeroxcraft. Plus I don't know if they even sell them seperatly.

Search for Trex 450 tail boom. That's 12 mm and Trex booms are used a lot for multirotor arms. The Trex 500 boom is 5/8ths inch by the way.

I measured my AeroXcraft tubes just to be sure and it is 12 mm.
