My new Y6, and plans for FPV

Here's my F450 converted to Y6. Plan to just use it for fun, and some FPV. I wanted something smaller then my F550 I could bring on trips, and I really wanted to see how a coaxal flew. I wanted to use this really cool plastic-tube-like stuff I got from work to conceal the wires on the arms, so fitting all the ESC in the body is a very tight fit! NO room, just wire spaghetti down there.

I've only had one test flight on it so far, so its to early to judge it yet. I noticed the GPS position hold is a little worse with the Y6 vs my hex, it floats around hunting for the spot more. Or maybe I need to turn my GPS... :/ It has tons of power, and shoots up fast when I give full throttle. Should be real fun to FPV from, just waiting on my vTX/monitor. Got 7 min flight on my 4000mah 4s pack, but still need to tune the line-loss voltage.

Thanks guys! Cant take all the credit.. got the idea from dewster and a post on rcgroups. Ill be flying it this weekend but dont have a way to record fpv yet. Will be my first fpv flights ever, any tips? Ill try to get a video of it flying for you guys

Ok, I got the cheap FPV setup going. I'm using a 1W vTX, and a 1W 2.4 booster on my transmitter. The orangerx has 2 satellites so I'm hoping that helps there. I haven't lost control yet, but haven't been to far. Just baby steps.. :/ Also, i think my videoTX is to powerful because when it's powered on, naza will loose GPS lock. Still have to try some re-positioning. I might put it in the back of the rear arm, by the motor. Would the blade passing over interfere with the GPS? I haven't had anyone to record, so no video of it yet. The video feed so far is always strong, withoug dropouts.

Next on the list is better antennas, and figure out a way to reduce vibration on the camera. Maybe a tilt for the fpv cam too

Had my first crash.. Was flying very high maybe 100-130ft up, heard a snap, and a change in motor noise. It didn't flip, but quickly lost yaw control and came down quick. I could somewhat steer it on the way down, but not stop the fall. In the last seconds I panicked and hit the fail safe (RTH) switch on my controller because it's the same switch I used for throttle kill on my Trex. Damage was minimal though, just broke the back arm and props for that arm. Should be back flying again tomorrow!

Got the GPS/vTX working, I braided the vTX wires and passed them through a ferrite ring, and switched to a 900mhx 500mw transmitter. I'd like to think i'm getting better at FPV, and I think this is the PERFECT training heli, it's definately helping me fly my bigger one better too.

You really should not use those props. :) Get some apc or graupners. it is no fun having to worry about when they will break.
