Mini OSD setup on Fatshark: need help

Hey Guys,

I have a bit of a simple noob question here. Sorry for that. I just do not want to fry anything on my rig.

I have bought the super simple mind OSD from Hobby King. The only thing that I need is to read the voltage of the lipo to know when to turn around and return to home.

My FPV setup is all Fatshark and immersionRC. That mean the camera (600 TVL CMOS) takes 5 volt. The connection on the camera is three wire (video, +, -).

Should I open this cable and cut the video wire, hook it up with the “Video in” on the OSD and connect the VTx to the “Video Out”? I can see that the “Video In” and “Video Out” connections of the OSD need a ground wire, is that necessary? On the other side of the OSD I will connect directly to the Lipo with a JST.

Is this the way to go?

Thanks!
