Long duration fpv setup

So I'm getting addicted. I'd love to build my own just for fun but I wouldn't want something that performs the same as my P2. I would want a significant increase in flight time. I'm getting around 15 minutes with h3-3d, gopro and transmitter. If I spent the time and money buildng something 20 minutes would be a huge disappointment. I'm thinking 30 minutes would be my goal. I don't want retractable landing gear but a design where the camera is out front would be desirable.
Something larger than the fantom would be cool. Maybe 50-100% larger. 4-6-8 motors don't care. Whatever is most efficient.

Any advise ise is appreciated.

I saw you found my build thread: http://bit.ly/1wTe3JD. Yours are pretty much the same as the requirements I started with so keep checking in to see if my plan works! The center plate I've been waiting for should be here in the next couple of days so hopefully I can by doing my first test flights this weekend. Shooting for 25 to 30 mins with GoPro and FPV.

the TBS discovery or discovery pro with the 400kv long range motors and 8000 mah of 6s will get you 35-40 minutes of forward flight..... these can be built in x4 or x8 but once coax your looking for landing gear cause props are hard to land on....

Just a thought: you mention FPV in the thread title, and if that's all you want to do then I would ditch the GoPro and gimbal and get a small FPV camera on a Discovery like Kloner said. GoPro and gimbal is more of an AP setup - way overkill for FPV alone.

Agreed. If you feel the need to record video an FPV camera used with and external video recorder would fulfill the need, just without stabilization.

the disco and disco pros carry a gopro and achieve those types of flight times. on these particular airframes you would disrupt it's intended CG and wouldn't fly for crap..... the rigs are laid out to be flown complete.

I love me some hd fpv.....

you never know what your gonna come across, if you didn't care about hd video, get a mini....

I should have added it is for aerial photography. Hobby not professional. So yes I would need my gopro and gimbal. :)
