Lipos smell??

So I pulled a couple Lipos out after about a month of non-use, and they smell (not too strongly, but noticable) like a sweet acetone kind of smell. From what I've read, that means they are punctured? It's really weird because I've never crashed with them and always handled gingerly - no reason to believe they'd be damaged in any way.

Question: Does this smell (despite faintness) mean immediate disposal? Or can I charge them and "see what happens"? It's 2 batteries that were stored together in one fireproof bag. They both smell equally so it's hard to tell which one is leaking (or both). I'd like to know for sure if they are bad before I chuck them, but I don't wanna start any fires either... Has any one experienced this?
