we fly canon ef lenses on epics and we tend to use 24 to 35mm primes. we use the rockinon cinelens, cause there nice glass on somewhat a budget. there cinemized so the usual workflow entails locking it down with gaffers tape, it's all de clicked for follow focus and has the gears..... takes nice big screw on filters as screw ons go....

yes, i do have Rokinon 35mm F1.4 and its great lens, but i think, its just too heavy 
i seen ppl using 18-55mm, but for me, prime is better.
Im using Tokina 11-16 F2.8 but its not that great. Its not sharp enough. I looked for 24mm F1.4 and i like it. Its little pricey , but it has great sharp image.
