Hoverfly Just tried new HF firmware...

I just did my first test flight with version 4.3.802 and the result is.... Wow.

I've got a big shoot this week and was iffy about leaving v4 that I've been using for a while now, but I'm glad I took that leap of faith and gave the latest firmware a shot. It flies so smooth. And in the past, I didn't use auto leveling mode, I only flew in manual. I tried auto leveling mode with the slider set to 10% as Al Ducharme has suggested, and was very impressed. I can see myself using this mode a lot now. Now I need to get a GPS board on there...

I flew several flights with my octo on 4.3.802 yesterday with Stacky's new Sony RX100 on board. This new firmware rocks!
I'm using 25% at the moment but I'll be changing to 10% before I fly next.

It used to feel like you were fighting the model in AL. Not any more :)

What are the pros and cons comparing HF to MK ?

we are looking for an new FC for our new heavy-lift Octo in the 9Kg AUW range (4Kg payload)
and we need an FC that has no problem with much wind and big prop's so Wookong is a no go for us.

Greetings,

Mario

I haven't flown the MK or DJI. Just two HFP boards (without gps) and the cheaper basic boards. I have flown my 3.2Kg octo and hex in 25+ mph. You can here the churning noise through the props! It wasn't smooth air as I was on the leeward side of the trees. The machine just sat there and was manageable flying around - not just the hover.

The Hoverfly team are active on the forums and listen to issues. They have a helpdesk ticket system on their site so you are not just a number. They had some communication problems until 6 months ago where they really started to listen and work hard! Feedback I have seen indicates the HF board handle wind better than the rest.

There are a few running large / heavy machines with HF boards. You should see more feedback from the full-time professionals, not just us part-timers.
