I am setting up a DJI 450 for a friend and he has a JR x9303. I fly with Futaba S bus and the set up is very easy for me with Futaba. I feel like a fish out of water with the X9303. I got the flight mode switch to work the Normal, Attitude, and GPS modes. I reassigned the flight mode to flaps before I could get it to work. Now I would like to take and set Aux 2 or Aux 4 so he can switch it in to Fail Safe. I'm not sure if I need to do some type of mix. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes just go to the first mix and you master and slave the channels you to make it work. You can also use the gear switch for that as well.

Do I make the master the flap and the slave the gear switch or the other way around. Then do I need to go to the gear channel and mess with the end point adjustments.

Yup you should do a gear to gear and use the end points.
I believe I saw a video on YouTube showing a JR/Spektrum mix
