JR 9503 side levers/sliders

I took my ratchets out and regret it. The sliders now move so easily all you have to do is literally blow on them and the camera twitches. My next step is to solder a joystick externally from the radio using the pots from these sliders. This way someone else can do the smooth gimbal work while I focus on flying.

Since you gentleman are actually using the side levers of the JR9503 for camera control (which is exactly what I would like to do) could you give me a leg-up on how to assign these to this task? I am VERY new to all of this and just received my 9503 but the documentation has absolutely no mention of these levers so I don't even know what they are called in the setup menus. I must confess that even if I knew what they were called I'm not sure that I would know how to reassign them to the gimbal servos. Any tips sure would be appreciated. Don't worry; I won't be crashing into anyone's house just yet as am trying to use this with the Aerosim RC trainer at first so save on props and public humiliation.

Hold enter and turn on power simultaneously.
Go to DevSel.
Aux3 lev. is the right slider. FlapLev is the left slider.
(the upper row is the Rx output of the assigned switch. When you hit the scroller down you can assign what switch controls that output.)
that make sense? it's a little tricky to get used to but once you see it, it's easy.

That is a great explanation (better than you're giving yourself credit for)
What I would ultimately like to be able to do (if it makes sense) is to assign those two levers to the camera gimbal for nick and roll movements. I am assuming that with my new super cool 9 channel TX and 9 channel RX I will be able to assign these two levers to two available channels on the RX. Thanks again!RancherPete

By the way: I was just looking for "flap lev" and don't see one. Could it be that it is "Pit Lev"? I did find the AUx3 Lev alright.

yup, you can assign them to anything you want. They are very sensitive though and not really ideal for gimbal control unless you have an MK. The MK will allow you to set a max speed control for the gimbal so when you override it it will only react so fast. I also ended up disabling the roll override as I found it unnecessary. The pitch is quite nice though.

That idea for MK sounds like a good one (good explanation too by the way) but I will be doing this with WK-M and NAZA so I wonder what might be a better way to control the gimbal if not with these levers? It would seem that the gimbal control would require something that works incrementally, like a pot or lever, but not a switch so I don't know where that would leave me. I suppose that one of the switches could be assigned to move the gimbal servo momentarily and flipped back off to stop the movement (?) As I said, with no experience with and of this I may not be looking at this properly as at and it is hard to find a place to start because they do not explain any different applications for these things in their documentation.

Well, to reveal my top secret idea. I was planning on using an external joystick so a friend could control it for shots that were really important. One person just cant process that much info, at least I can't. Flying is a full time job.
