I've Had It With DJI ESC's.....advice?

Because I've never done the flashing of ESC's before so I thought I'd buy ones that have already been flashed and maybe buy a few spares and some blueseries as well to practice on.

One thing I do want to confirm though before buying the simionk flashed esc's is that they will work with the Tiger motors. I've read stuff where people have said the simionk firmware doesn't work well with these motors. I'm not sure if its all the Tiger motors or just the new navigator series?

I am looking at buy the 3515 kv400 motors or the 4014 kv400 motors.

Can anyone shares their experiences or thoughts on using simionk esc's with either of these motors or any other Tiger motors?

Thanks

Wow just saw this thread, kind of has me worried.

I have the same setup,
F550 extended arms, AVroto motors.
DJI 30A opto esc's
11x7SF props
VTR125 with nex5n
2x5000mah 4s packs in parallel

My hex is probably heavier, and drawing more current then yours with my 11x7 props. No ESC failures yet, been flying like this a few months now. What are the symptoms, if any, the ESC will fail? Thinking about the RCtimer ESC "HVSK-40A High Voltage OPTO Brushless ESC" Would that ESC just plug in and work with WKM? ****, maybe I'll just get the RCTIMER s800 clone haha

Actually, I suspect our total weights are probably pretty close to the same. That is, unless you've got yours also loaded with FPV kit.

What sort of flight times are you getting with the paralleled 4S batteries?

I've got an HDMI converter for my nex5n going to a 2.4 vTx, thats my fpv setup. I get about 9 min flights, and usually put back 6000-7000mah. Try not to push it since I don't have a current sensor on there. It's pretty heavy, but I don't have an accurate scale to weigh it on. Ecalc says I'd draw 26-28amps at full throttle, depending on the C rating packs I'm using. I always knew I was close to the ESC limit, but thought I was OK since it was still under. I really like the way APC 11x7SF props fly.. Got it tuned rock steady, hovers semi-quietly, and at full throttle it rockets up.

If I got those rctimer esc's I linked in my last post, I think I would just sell my avroto's and get 6s motors with these arms. Or, just get the rctimer S800 clone, i'm really thinking about that.... Think I could make the VTR125 fit on it somehow I'm sure.

UPDATE:

Bought the Maytech 40A Opto's about three or four weeks ago. I've had probably ten flights on them. Monday, one failed in flight. Just stopped turning during a simple hover. I re-programmed the ESC and re-calibrated the throttle and that seems to have made it happy as it will now command the Avroto to spin again (Or perhaps that's a coincidence and it has just decided to work right again...who knows?).

Just to be safe I've swapped it out for my spare....same for the motor.

Don't know what it is....ESCs seem to hate me. :dejection:
