Insurance companies

Does any one have any contact details/recommendations of insurance companies in the UK for public liability cover? I know there is an old thread somewhere but I can't find it now and some of these broker mentioned all now seen to point me back to John Heath, there must be some one else who offer cover. John Heath are OK but I normally like 2-3 quotes and they only offer cover combined with equipment MR risk which would be OK but the excess is £500!! Regards, Andy

Easy? You call that easy?
Ask ResourceUAS. They have started their version of the BNUC-S and I think they know a thing or two about insurance. You can call them as they're very very helpful on the phone.

Cheers!

Contacted ResourceUAS who put me in touch with a couple of brokers who both seem to go through Kiln insurance who in turn go through LLoyds and quotes have come back in excess of £2.5K!!! John Heath are quoting just less than £700 but there must be other players in the insurance game. Who are you all getting cover from and what sort of premium? I realise each individual is going to be different regarding quotes but there must be other more competitive underwriters out there, ANYONE???

I'm with John Heath, which is actually through Aviva when you get the docs. I'd be interested to see how transportrisk.com compare if you give them a try.

I had a quote from John Heath and when I mentioned it to a broker who specialise in aviation and SUA policies he asked me to forward the policy wording to him as he didn't like the sound of the Aviva policy, here is the response I got back: quote "Yes I thought I’d seen this. Honestly speaking this programme is done on the back of the BMFA facility with Aviva as what appears to be a “special” agreement with Aviva via their Birmingham office. There is doubt as to whether it would pay in event of say a mid air collision with another aircraft, so I can’t really comment further as this is only in relation to small UAS’s.
Anything bigger than about 25Kg would require normal aviation markets which is what I do, so I guess the old adage is, “you pays your money etc……”
Further, I believe there may be some conflict with the UK CAA and the operation thereof but I would suggest you ask the broker for written confirmation that coverage provided would indeed cover Third Party Property damage and Bodily Injury arising out of a collision with another aircraft and that coverage is in accordance with CAP722 and the UAS regulations" I wonder what the truth is? did you check the cover meets CAA requirements?

No I didn't, there aren't that many choices for UK based insurance (just realized transportrisk.com is in America, so I doubt they'll be much good for UK) though and they do require your CAA details for the insurance so they can't be completely oblivious. Plus your friend is dealing with stuff that flies at full size aircraft height, we aren't supposed to be in their airspace at all so the chances of colliding with other aircraft is very small.
