I made a camera mount out of 7 zip ties..

So i wanted to get some footage from my DJI F450, only my 4th flight...may not be advisable but hey ho.

I fashioned this zip tie phone mount...works well, will see how good the footage is in a couple hours, my Sony Z1 has some pretty good software stabilization so I'm genuinely hopeful for usable footage! Famous last words?

Oh well, lesson learnt, it's only money.

Yup, I put one leg of my new "Flip" into a puddle. Water got under the heat shrink of the ESC, let all the smoke out!:upset:

Geez phantom_alex, you came close to beating a record! Now if you'd left your phone on there and THEN dorked it in the pond on flight #5, I'd call you the Champ...
DOON'T DO THAT!!! Unless you won the lottery, this will be a VERY expensive hobby for you. if you're new to multi's, learn how to keep them in the air, make them go where you want, then land them safely first, THEN start strapping your phone to it...better yet, get a proper mount ( you don't have to spend a thousand bucks on a 3 axis gimbal right away) and a camera that's more suited to the job.
what's worse than dumping your multi in a pond? Dumping your phone along with it, so you can't even call a buddy to tell them what you did!

Haha thanks W.Reimer, I'm massively gutted I lost my quad after only 4 days. But totally pleased I still have my phone.

I definitely recommend learning in a open area, that was my downfall. I rushed to fly in a crowded area when I could have easily driven 5 minutes to a large park. I was just so excited!

Never mind, jot that one down to experience...
