Greetings to everyone on this fine forum, I just found this place searching for flamewheel copters on google... because I had seen one mentioned on another forum so I always say you can't have too much information so here I am.

A little bit about me I have been away from r/c for about 15 years and when I left electrics were just starting to be doable IMHO nut when I see what is being done with the new types of batteries and electronics I am just blown away ;) So now I have the bug and I am starting to order up parts and what not as I keep saying to myself "I wish I 'd seen this stuff sooner!!!" Anyways I should be building a quad soon (week or two) then another and anoth.....

Looks like a great site here I hope to spend plenty of time on this great forum!!!

Cheers, Ron Smith

Ron we welcome you to the new world of RC multi's. If you are getting a kit and have been researching the F450/Naza, I can recommend it. It is a great reentry into the RC world. All you need is a Tx, Rx, Lipos and a Charger. You will be up and flying and smiling in no time. Welcome back!

Thanks for the welcome and info Tahoe Ed, I have looked at many of the kits out there and I just wish I had more money right now I feel like a kid in a candy store!!! but alas... it is Christmas time so money is very short(fortunately plastic is not) for now I have ordered up an assortment of motors, speed controllers, a few LIPO's and some other odds and ends to make a homebuilt quad or tri first. I have an old futaba fg7h FM radio I was hoping to use for starters from what I can find it is still legal, also have been looking at the new futaba 8fgs (drools) been reading forums for days now to find out what works with what in the realm of radios... all I can say is a lot has changed in 15 years!!! for the better I might add :).

Later, Ron

Welcome Ron! I'm also in W. Wa (Arlington), its good to know theres another multicopter guy around here! I'm getting started myself, but have been flying rc helis for the last few years. Trying hard right now to incorporate photography into my flying, so multirotors seem like a great way to go.

My experience so far is XA makes great frames, but DJI is the way to go for flight electronics.... Also just put a flamewheel together, and it is a VERY nice small frame. I agree with Droider, its the go-to multirotor.

This is the best place to learn!

Hey Ron, I missed your post until now. Welcome to the forum. There are at least a few crazy guys in the greater Seattle area flying multi-rotors. :D They are a blast for sure. For now I've mostly abandoned all my other poor RC helis. Looking forward to reading about your build. Maybe we'll run into each other some day. I fly a lot at Magnuson and also up in Snohomish as I practice FPV with the oktokopter.
