Hello all,

I'm a veteran RC hobbyist from the days when an "electronic speed controller" was a novel and expensive new thing... My previous experience was in RC car racing, but that was back in the 80s and following a very long absence from RC, I recently realised that people were launching multi-rotor things into the sky and getting wonderful images from them... So given my passion for photography, it seemed mad not to give it a go too.

So I've recently built my first quad, starting with a stock Hobbyking Alien 560, and then modifying it. It's now an Alien/Predator hybrid that turned it into an "Alien 760", with Tarot 2D gimbal, GoPro 4 and Skyzone FPV, and I'm about to get into some shakedown flights in its current configuration.

Hello N0bby welcome aboard, North Kent here.

You will have lots of fun, just don't fly anywhere near Parkhurst.
Plenty of knowledge here to help you develop stuff.

I did my first flying on the Isle of Wight. Probably a bit reckless but was flying way out to sea near Bembridge lifeboat launch. Also Bembridge Windmill for an early attempt at aerial filming.
Hope it goes well!

Thanks for the welcome, Cheshirecat and flydigital. Yes, there's a lot of water around us, that I'd love to get some dramatic footage of. I think it will be some time before I feel experienced and brave enough to do so though!

Hello, I'm visiting my dad on and off for the next few months on the isle of Wight and am looking for somewhere to practice sport flying my 250 racer. Some public bridleway or big feild. If anyone can recommend anywhere between ventnor and newport it would be a great help
