Hi from Portsmouth.

Hello all.

I'm an ex Military Drone instructor and I am currently converting my skills over to the Civilian side of Unmanned flying.

Easy? You call that easy?
Howdy and welcome! Your skills will be a massive boost to the civilian side of things!

As above, if you've not spoken to the guys at Resource Group yet, do it. Lots of people in the same position as you.

Thanks. I emailed the CAA to see if I had to jump through the same hoops in order to obtain a commercial license and I received a reply from Hay Lawrence that there were, indeed, 'some changes to how we deal with applications in the near future, which should simplify and cheapen the overall process of demonstrating pilot competency. This will give allowances for previous training and quals (inc Military)'. I've not heard anything yet though, despite checking all 'information notices' issued since.

CAA are still working on the new regs so nothing will have been published as yet. I don't think it will be long so hang on in there.

Thank you very much for the update, appreciated. If you find out before me I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know, too.

Well, the new information notice has been published and I've emailed them my Military CV and certificates but as yet, nothing. The details were very sketchy in terms of how / what to provide in terms of proving competency.
