I live in Fountain Hills Arizona which is a suburb of sorts of Phoenix Arizona.

I'm new to Quadcopters...

I'm building my first quadcopter from a new stock DJI F450, NAZA M-Lite with GPS, and adding a TBS Discovery Frame.
Also I am using one of the new Mobius Action cam cameras as a cheap alternative to the more expensive GoPro cameras.

Took my maiden flight of the completed DJI F450 last weekend and plan on converting to the TBS Discovery frame this weekend.

I have a Turnigy 9X radio system and have upgraded it with a Smartieparts Programmer board and flashed with er9x firmware.
I am also just now upgrading the TX/RX module with a FrSky DJT module and a D8R-XP Receiver for longer range, CPPM, FAILSAFE, and telemetry.

Haven't had much airtime just yet, but, after 6 months of research of what I wanted to start out with, I took the leap and purchased my equipment as my 56th Birthday present to myself.

This is my first real hobby outside of my work as a Semiconductor Design Engineer and hope to have many years (at 15-20 minutes at a time...<grin>) of enjoyment in my new found hobby.

Hope to learn much from this forum of experts and hopefully be able to pass on my experiences as well as I gain more knowledge.

Welcome Terry! I remember back in the mid 70's when Fountain Hills first opened, my dad drove us from Phoenix out there to see a coworker wo had bought one of the first units in the first phase. I thought wtf would anyone want to live way out here?
You just finished the 450 and now you're already tearing it apart? The disco needs a little more authority to fly vs. the stock 450. A lot of that is due to the center of gravity on the disco being so far back. I've had both and for my old man style of flying I prefer the classic quad style, but that's just personal.

Thanks for the welcome...

Yea, I know... My first Quadcopter and already wanting to build a Disco...

I thought of that too... Maybe biting off more than I can chew... But since I have been doing my research, the Disco is where I wanted to eventually end up...
The funds presented them self and so I purchased the 450 and went ahead and got the Disco boards now instead of later while I could. Got the 450 up and running and if the Disco build doesn't go well at first, I'm just going to put it back to the stock 450 until I figure all the intricacies of this great hobby and then get the right pieces for the Disco and have Two Copters... One for Fun and one for FPV...

Thanks again for the shout-out.

Hello Folks!

Nik from Chandler. Started out on the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 and that started my love for quadcopters! Built the F450 from a kit ordered on eBay back in March and have been flying that ever since. Did several upgrades, including Go Pro mounts for AP and recently FPV. No goggles yet. Recently got the Tarot 2D brushless gimbal and having a blast with it! Working on a new quad project with the Tarot 650, but running into some technical issues with ESC throttle calibration. Will be posting my observations on that later.
Glad to be here!

Best Regards.
