greetings...

so, no experience of multirotors or flying at all but fascinated by the the prospect of one, and how the industry may grow..
I am being made redundant soon (voluntary) and taking my payoff to do something for myself and would like to enter the world of the drones industry. looking at doing an RPQ through resource group in a month or so and would ideally like a DJI inspire 1 (any other recommendations?......versadrones?)
was working as a civil servant, but have also studied theatre and set design at college and did a photography course in brixton a few years back. also used to do video filming/editing on an XL1 using finalcut predominately whilst at college....so do have a creative background.

please be gentle with me......ooo er missus!

Welcome aboard lakin! I think you'll find most of the folks here are quite gentle - and there's tons of info to be had.

Feel free to ask questions and have a look around. I'd also recommend getting a cheap quad to learn on. Something like a blade nano QX, ominous or a hubsan. They will give you the experience to feel comfortable when you finally fly something costing a lot more.

As far as suggestions for the bigger multirotor, droneup starts the discussion above. But obviously there are MANY factors including the aforementioned hobby/professional, budget, your willingness to learn to tinker, etc etc.

The Inspire has produced many a smile, but also has created some headache when it comes to repairs/customer service. I suggest you do some serious research about the Inspire and any other drone you consider. There are always varied opinions - but at least you'll have a feel for the landscape.

Very exciting times! Plenty of new tech coming our way.

Have fun and fly safe.

Are you looking to get into drones as a hobby or professionally?
Ideally as a profession.
I know there must be a huge learning curve , and most if you guys been flying for yonks ,but I am very eager!
Will be looking at booking RPQ with resource group soon

Well, you need to start somewhere - so I day get out there and grab a practice quad. You might have luck with the computer simulator programs, Real Flight seems to be the most popular. Hobby or pro, you're going to want to fly safe, and that starts with practice. Get at it! :)

What's a good beginner drone to learn on if you plan on mainly flying indoors? For example, in the future I may want to use drones for real estate tours of homes but would want to learn on something inexpensive first!

I think any of the ones I listed in the post a few back would help for practice. If you are asking about a multirotor that can capture video indoors, that's a whole different matter.

Hey Droneup...

I learned with a Heli-Max 1-SQ Vcam. It was about $130 if I recall correctly. It is small enough to fly in a house and takes decent video. I flew it for about 6 months both inside and outside before building my F450.
