Help replacing a burnt out FPV transmitter

During a recent 'upgrade' I managed to create a short that burnt out the FPV transmitter on my craft. I have the GAUI GV-100 Vision 5.8GHz Tx/Rx:

I'm hoping to replace the transmitter with this:

Both the Gaui and the replacement operate over the same 7 frequencies:

5740, 5760, 5780, 5800, 5820, 5840, 5860

I've been offered a replacement of the Gaui transmitter for $190.00. I'd prefer to go with the option I've researched. Is there any reason why they might not work together? I'm a novice when it comes to how FPV signals are packaged.

I would like to improve upon the signal strength the Gaui has to offer, the range is generally poor, the image is noisy regardless of the amount of suppression I've added and there's no easy way to upgrade the antenna. That said I'm still hoping to keep the Gaui receiver and screen intact and use to keep some of my original investment in play. If the good folk of the forum think it's folly to match different TX to RX then I'll replace the RX as well, buy a matched pair and move to modify the screen to take an input from the new RX.

Thank you in advance for you interest and input.
