Hi everyone! I just wanted to stop in and say hello, Newbie quad pilot here.
I am currently practicing on an Ominus and preparing for my 1st quad build.
I found this website on Youtube, and Here I am!

Welcome to the madness Alien! :)

You definitely found the right place if you're looking for all things multirotor.

What's the rig you're planning on building? Start a build log. Surf around and feel free to ask any questions you might have. Great group of folks here - very knowledgable and always willing to help.

Good luck and fly safe!

Im going with the HK Alien 560 Carbon... Ordered and shipped according to HK today
I was going with the sunnysky motors but after seeing all counterfeits im not so sure now, I need to be able to lift a GoPro....any suggestions?
Afro 30ESC's
open pilot cc 3d
I like the NAZA gps but DONT like the price is there a good alternitive?
power distribution..... I might go with the HK power board but I am leaning on making my own
Batt. havent got that far yet lipo?
and a six channel transmitter/ receiver
Its a rough draft but we are getting there!

If you're trying to keep costs down - sunnysky is the way to go I think. Buddyrc has been selling them for a long time. Maybe give them a call and ask about counterfeits - but I assume they get them directly from the factory.

The Naza GPS only works with the DJI stuff. I don't think you'll get it hooked to the CC3D.

Don't get the CHeap HK power board. Not sure if they make better ones now - but the ones for under $4 are garbage. You'll definitely want lipo.

I would suggest looking into 8 channel radios at a minimum. Not sure of your budget - but Taranis is hard to beat for the function/$.

Thanks I did not know that about DJI<< what does that stand for? What is a good alternative? And if push comes to shove I can go with the NAZA lite.
I also didnt know that HK power boards were junk, I am fairly proficient at soldering so I think I am going to make my own.
And yes I am trying to keep costs down on the build, it is my 1st build so im trying not to get to crazy.
I was going to build a F450 flame wheel quad? I think its called(red and white fiber glass)
But man..... i saw that alien 560 frame and i was SOLD LOL.
I will look into Buddyrc for the Sunnysky motors.... do you think the Afro 30's are a good fit?
And will they provide enough lift to carry my Go Pro?
Oh and the frame has NOTHING to do with my screen name I have had that screen name on many different boards over 20 years LOL!!!

The esc won't have anything to do with lift. They just need to be appropriate for the current that will be passed through it on the way to the motor. So you'll need to determine your motors first - but chances are the motors you'll need for your MR - the 30A Afro will be fine.

DJI is a Chinese company. Can't recall the actual full name.

Solder up a squid yourself. You'll be happier when it keeps you in the air :)

That frame is pretty heavy. I always suggest making a spread sheet with the weight of everything. That way you can hone in on he best choice for motor/prop combo - and how much you'll have left over for batteries.
