Hardcase LiPo batteries for multi rotor - a good or bad thing?

Another battery question….

Do hardcase LiPo batteries work as well in MR's as standard ones or is there no difference? I just wondered whether the hard case caused them to get hotter and potentially become a fire risk.

Thanks,
Dom.

Not the best thing since a full hard case does not shed heat well and our batteries generate a lot of heat when discharging. Containing that heat is not good for the battery. OTH, on can obtain batteries with either an aluminum or hard plastic plate on two sides for additional protection. Not intending to promote a maker but Max Amps does that all the time.

Hi my understanding is that hard case batteries are used in car racing etc. where they are subject to much rougher treatment and need to be protected. The reason that they are generally not used in the air is because they are heavier than those without case.

Hard case batteries are heavier...... which equates to reduced air time.
Use soft case batteries and mount in a location that provides some degree of protection from puncture etc.
Or strap on a thin protective plywood or carbon fiber plate before tying them down.
