I just watched a video of a guy losing his quad on its maiden flight! Now I'm thinking that whole GPS-return-home feature sounds pretty good. LOL
What do you think of the Walkera QR W100S for an entry level FPV unit? I know the quality and features aren't going to be like the $500 units, but the fun factor seems high, and I won't cry when I crash it learning to fly it. :friendly_wink:

It's fine to start out with because as a beginner quad, it's light enough to take the inevitable bumps and bruises that you will have learning to fly. It's the old "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" axiom. LOL! Remember, before you fly FPV you need to learn how to fly just with line of sight (LOS). Then when you get good at flying LOS then you can play around with the FPV. I know with that quad that you can also use an iPad or iPhone but if I were you I would only fly with the included Devo 4 transmitter. That way you will learn the stick skills you will need as you grow in the hobby. Use the iPad or iPhone only as a display. Have fun with it! By the way, my first quad was a Ladybird by Walkera....
That was exactly my plan. I love the idea of being able to see from the quad's point of view. I've got an old iphone that will be perfect for it. I've never taken to the touch gaming controls on phones and tablets, so I doubt I'd bother with trying to fly direct from the phone - except to show off to friends. LOL
