Sorry for reviving this old thread, but I just found it on Google, and I happen to have the very same problem with my quadcopter and Graupner e-Props 10x5.
My quad is always yawing CW, when I pitch forward, also about 90° and has a hard time yawing CCW.
I've tried the suggestions, but nothing really helped.
Cgott, have you actually resolved this, or has anyone else had this problem?
Actually I change almost all my F550, with different arms, motors and propellers... in fact, these problem never was solve... on these configuration... now, I have installed Androix aluminium ams, 3110-KV700 T-Motors, and APC 12x4.5 composite propellers... obviously the yaw problem was resolved, It was a very drastic solution, but now I have a very stable, heavy load, and different than f550 stuff.
I learn some important things on the way to get a useful and comfortable flying device... the second one (the first one is to be absolutely sure to have all well connected and installed) to get a nice fly, you have to get the correct combination of battery-propellers... months ago, when I change motors, arms, batteries and props, I still having exactly the same yaw issue!!! I try with a lot of kind of propellers... DJI, Gemfan, Graupner, Maytech and different sizes... until I get APC props... I don't now if APC are good stuff, even more, I read on some forums that 12" propellers are not recommended.... but... it works for me...
Another thing... try with different kind of batteries... I don't know what kind of batteries you have, but I you have 3s, try with 4s... or vice versa.
Actually, I use both of them on the same device... (not at the same time of course) when I use 3s the fly are very softly with almost no-vibration , but dangerous because its on the lower voltage limit. When I use 4s, the device is very responsive, wind resistant, fast... but a very nervous. I use different voltage batteries with the same gains.
I recently build a new f450 quadrocopter... this week I receive a new kit of Graupner 10x5 propellers... I will install it this weekend... then I´ll comment you on monday how was my fly...
