GoPro Hero 3 to GoPro Hero 4 Comparison

Hey guys, finally got my GoPro Hero 4 Black today and thought I'd do a comparison for all of you looking to snag a new one.

First off the new GP4 has a noticeably different face. With two large LED's sitting next to the LCD screen. Also the power button is just flat silver no black in the grooves. The Battery door is on the bottom and I think the camera's CG has shifted a bit so triple check your CG!

The side button "wifi" button of the 3 has been replaced with a Tool button. This will get you right to the tools menu!

Now besides the obvious 4K qualities of the Hero 4, the menu is different as well!
REAL CAMERA functions!

Besides the video frame rates ranging from 4K to 720P, there are many more real camera settings including White balance and coloring!

The GoPro Hero 4 Black weighs in at 86 grams where the Hero 3 weighs in at 74 Grams.

Check out www.gopro.com for all the specs..

Let's take a look!

The same size!

More pics... video test and more info coming soon!
I can say from a quick test movie, the 4K is pretty impressive as is the low light settings.

Pretty awesome step forward!

is the lens any better, does it still have the fish eye and how is quality of image at 100 feet up. they work great at 15 to 20 feet away but we are a little farther then that.

The GoPro does not have a fish eye lens. It has a very wide angle lens. Like most wide angles it will show distortion if not kept level. If you set the GoPro to medium FOV and keep it relatively level you'll notice that it looks much better. Also, the distortion introduced by the extreme wide angle is simple to fix in post. Even the software that GoPro distributes does a good job. Finally, if the GoPro lens doesn't meet your needs, then change it. There are other lenses available.
