Futaba T8FG Super Setup

Hi everyone.

Feeling a little lost. :(

I'm rebuilding after a crash :( and i'm wondering if anyone else who uses a 8FG Super Futaba TX has the steps they used to setup their Transmitter.

I'm using S-Bus, Hex configuration with an AV130 Gimble.

I use a Helicopter setting at the moment, but i'm hoping someone may be able to walk through the steps for their setup.

Any help would be much appreciated !

Huddo,
Welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear of your crash, it's quite a shocker when it eventually happens but most come out of it very much more informed as to what they're doing.

Sorry I can't offer specific help as I'm not using the S-bus or DJI at the moment. I haven't heard of people using the helicopter mode, most of the time it's been aircraft/acro mode but I'm sure someone will chime in and help to sort things out with you.

Good luck and hang in there.

Thanks for the reply Bart.

Yeah crashes are a shock, but luckily it was not an expensive one - gives me more opportunity to build again and learn more.

I've been flying a Gaui 500x for quite a while now. It seems like a toy in comparison to the DJI / Droidworx frame combo.

Before the crash (which I think was either a loose prop or a bird strike (or possibly a combination of the two) I was quite scared to fly it - its big, and powerful !

I remember having an 'oh crap' moment when I flipped on the GPS mode and it shot up 20m in the air and held its position :)

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who may be able to assist with my setup - or at least confirm the settings.

Hi Huddo,

are you sure you set up your flight modes correctly ? If you switch to GPS it should not shot up 20m and hold its position. If you switch on GPS it should not change its altitude only if you tell it to with the throttle stick.
I Think you switched into failsafe.

Check you flight modes in the Config software that all flight modes really turn up blue once switching to them with you radio.

Hi Huddo, I've just completed a Droidworx AD6 heavy lift with AV200 360 mount and use 8fG with S-BUS, you should use aero mode without any mix, not heli. Also if using S-BUS failsafe is very easy to test.

There is only one way to use heli mode when using a flight controller like the DJI. You have to set your swash type up for 90degree 1 servo mixing. In reality, there shouldn't be a need to do this, but some radios offer different features in heli vs acro mode. I'm using a DX6i and I had to do this in order to get a pitch/throttle curve. If i didn't need that, I would just be flying in acro mode.

Can't help you with the Futaba set up, but I hope that shines a little light on swash settings for you.

I have a futaba 10cag with s-bus R6208SB

easy as pie

- set to aero
- set aux channels
- plug in to X2
- plug v-sen in to X1
- set failsafe, gps, att and manual
- set gimbal gain
- calibrate
- fly

if you have more specific problems let me know.

You guys are AWESOME

Thank you all so much!

Changing to Aero has made it simpler... set the aux channel for 3way switch, and tested failsafe (very easy as you say!)

Do I need to set any failsafe settings on the TX at all? I've setup the failsafe with the 3way switch, when turning off the TX it changes to failsafe.

What suggested settings for the AV130 gimbal have people been using?

Failsafe on tx is standard ok, as you confirmed with testing.

Sugest to make a new thread on the gimbal, if peepz have same problem easy to find.
What settings are you refering to? On tx or wkm?

Thanks for the confirmation.

The settings I'm referring to are the ones on the WKM - mainly the gain settings for the gimbal.

The best is to do:

- remove props
- power on the TX
- power on the copter
- link wkm to pc with dji software installed

- set the gimbal to neutral on your tx (pitch)
- set the gimbal level with the potentiometers on the gimbal ( if you use av130/200)
- lower the gain on the pc to say 10-15
- save/write to the wkm!!
- pick up the copter and roll it, if the gimbal doesn't roll enough, raise gain. If it rolls to much, lower gain.
- same story for the pitch.

The gimbal plate should always level out.

Good luck

Thanks for the info.

Here is my latest settings. Still not 100% but better than when I started!

Huddo since you are using the AV 130, please report if you get any Jitters random movements in your gimbal once the WKM units has full SAT lock down. Some of use have this issue and up to now DJI doesn't take it to serious !.

Thanks

Huddo, don't you mean that the servo's aren't fast enough? Because this is not programmable.... I have the same problem, I'm going to change the servo's.

I heard from Sidney this morning on this. He says that it only happens on certain combinations of IMUs and compasses. This may explain why some people just aren't seeing the same thing that you me and Ken, to name a few, have seen. In any case, they are working on a software fix that will take care of the issue. I'm expecting to hear something in the next few days.

I,m getting this movement with full SAT lock using AV200 DJI WKM, gimbal wanders around with small movements. As I am only in the early stages of first test flights and fine tuning I haven't done any AV work yet so I don't know if the same occurs during flight but I can see it on the ground before takeoff.

Than you are also one of the unlucky ones like Gary Ken and me and it will not change during flight but stay the same. I hope that they are really looking for a solution like gary told us and that DJI is taking it serious.

They have to take it seriously, we pay a serious price for this kit! I bet most suffer from this anomaly but either don't see it or don't have a gimbal like AV130/200 I hope more reading this add their experience if suffering this problem and that someone from DJI read this.

Don't see any jitter on the video, don't have out myself. it's just to slow. going to upgrade to the 7,2v an 72 wheel/3turn potmeter.
