So I got my Quanum Cyclops FPV Goggles, got everything up and running, then went out to the yard to give it a try. All I wanted was to hover around, but quickly removed the googles. I was pretty disoriented. It's not like I haven't spent some time in the cockpit - 1300+ hours in fixed wing, helicopter (most time), homebuilts and paragliders - but this was definitely weird.
I've been using the little $5 FPV Freerider quad simulator to work on LOS and camera flight - but it ain't the same! So how to use my new goggles? Short answer - not easily. The Cyclops came with a second lens so I I started by looking at Google Cardboard, but I wanted the single screen look like the Cyclops.
The solution was foam core, hot glue, the Fresnel lens and a little elastic band. The program for phone and PC is Remotr (http://remotrapp.com/?utm_source=mail&utm_campaign=welcome&utm_medium=link)
Works great - all you need is a good WiFi connection and your transmitter.
