For all the UK BNUC-S 'Posse'

Benjamin Kenobi

Easy? You call that easy?
And how hard is the BNUCS? For a non-aviation guy like myself with no affiliation to a club or business? And do I understand correctly that you'd have to retake it if flying a different craft from the one you presented initially?

Any material available for revision also would be appreciated. Thinking long term so thought I'd start now to be prepared.

Cheers!

Thread hijack!!!! :) :)

Just to answer your question as so as to not let this thread divert from my question.... ;)

I'd say its 70% common sense and everything you are tested on is in the handbook and covered over the two day course. If you put the time in and read the handbook a few times prior so as to get a understanding of the content and take in what your are told on the course you should be OK

I'd say the 'hardest' part is controlling your nerves when taking the test, you get 90mins to answer 60 questions so you cant hang about... I've not sat a test for 19yrs so my palms were a little clammy'!! :)

Of course that just covers your ground test... You then have to write your opporations manual which has to be approved by EuroUSC... Then you have a flight test based on that Ops manual. That is then submitted to the CAA (which is then hopefully approved)....

And yes, you can only commercially fly the UAV(s) you use in your flight test, an only you (not your company or staff) are approved by the CAA to fly commercially.

Hope that helps.

I've got a quote from these guys but not committed yet. About £50/month. Probably will go with them as I haven't found any others.
Were you on the BNUC last week. If so Hi, it's Jem.

Hi Jem

Yes I was :) I'm trying to remember who you were? :)

I was 'Doug' (still am) and took my test with my business partner (Darren).

Someone said they found a company that would ensure your equipment after the ground test (but before flight test)...... this is what I'm ideally after.

Can I get this certification in the UK and use it back here in Australia? It's worth flying over for a week. The BNUC-C candidate guide states its applicable internationally.

Hi Nic

There are currently only a few countries that will recognise the BNUC-S...

To be honest your best bet is just to ring EuroUSC. They are people you should be directing this question to, they are friendly and really the only people that will give you the definitive correct answer. ;)

Hi Doug
I'm the guy from Bristol with a beard, stayed in the hotel with you guys.
John Heath will insure you without your BNUC but the excess is massive.

Hi Doug. Yes did pass, how about you?
I don't think insurance of the MR is worth it if the excess is £500, but I can't find anyone who does just 3rd party.

Hey Jem, yes I passed :)

Having fun writing the Opps manual as we speak lol

Well Im running the Zemuse, so there is potential to do some serious damage :)

But it would have to be considerable to consider claiming..

Others on here must be insured????
