Flight Time Question/Advice

We are super happy with our setup. However I'm a little disappointed with the flight times we are getting.

We are running:

S800
Zenmuse/Nex7
Datalink
OSD
DJI Videolink
FPV camera
Retractable legs

(so its fully loaded)

We flew it the other day in perfect conditions, zero wind and after 9mins flight time we only had 14% left in the batteries.

We are running 2 x Zippy 5000mAh 20C batteries.

I was hoping to get around 10-12mins.

I only get 12 mins max with (2) 5000 3S packs

F550 with 1180 Cobras w/ CF 10x4.7 props
GoPro Xheli mount
GoPro and case
FPV camera Tx and 400 mah batt

My weight minus batteries is about 4 lbs. I would guess you are 2 lbs heavier? So -I- would say that's all your going to get. I do not make a habit of going below 20% though either.

Hey thanks for the reply.

I'd be really interested to here from people using the same set up as me too (or at least running the S800/Zenmuse)

Thanks

Well it is a matter of weight and efficiency. I for one would not be flying your rig with freaking Zippy packs but that's me. :shame:

Never had any issues with Zippy (plenty with other batteries though) :) I dont want to run a single pack really, though I suppose the weight difference could help.

Again would like to here what others with my set up are running.

Need more information from you, i.e., 3S or 4S batteries? prop sizes, your flight takeoff elevation above sea level, outdoor temperature etc.,

I get around 15 mins with:
F550 c/w WKM, stock DJI 30 amp ESCs, NTM prop drive 35-30 1100KV motors, 10x5 Graupner props, Futaba R6208SB receiver plus DJI datalink DL900,
light weight landing gear using parallel Turnigy 25-35C 3S batteries 5000 mah each.
Base elevation here is 3300 feet above sea level. Outdoor temperature was around 32 deg F.
Also I have motors and props carefully balanced and hover it at one spot in GPS mode 8 feet above the ground for the entire flight.
I have about 18% to 23% battery reserve after landing.

I use a S800, Zenmuse and 5.8 Vid DL with a NEX5n.

I get about 10-12 min on dual 5K lipos, and 12-15 on dual 6k. I don't have the DataLink, OSD, the FPV cam or retracts. So your time seems about right.

Also it is temperature dependent. Cooler temps shorter flights unless you have away to keep bats warmer. My times are in winter here in NH and it is usually in the 20-30F range when I fly. I normally land with 25-30% left in the lipos. After the lipos warms up and I retest it will go up 10-15% when it was cooler than 20F flying.

@gtranquilla I'm unable to edit the title of this post, but Its probably my fault for not being more specific, but I'm really only after info from those using the same set up as me (or at least the same aircraft). But I do appreciate you reply.

@olof

Thanks, maybe ill try warming the batteries first (what make are the 5000's?)

You're running 20C batteries, you might want to consider increasing your "C" rating to something higher too.
