Hoverfly flight behaviours and gains

recently started flying hfp and got a question about gains. Tyicaly i'm in self leveling mode and am holding the cyclic full forward a majority of the time feathering the throttle. i'm getting 30 seconds, maybe longer if not pushing it so hard, but then it pitches up like crazy. like i'm holding the cyclic full forward and the quad is sitting flat. when i let off the cyclic, it doesn't really seem to change....... what is that?

Firstly can I see your I.D? Ok please sit on the table and take your clothes off, the doctor will be in in a few minutes.

Patient- " My attitude has been weird lately. I used to be more level than this."

Dr. Hoverfly- " Ok, are all your sliders in the assistant moving end to end along with stick movements?"

Patient- "yes, of course."

Dr. Hoverfly- " Next thing is your radio setup to some weird expo, dual rates, mixing from another model?"

Patient- "No"

Dr. Hoverfly- "Does it do this when you are in manual mode?"

Patient- "No!"

Dr. Hoverfly- "Try lowering your smoothness slider value in the assistant. It is counter intuitive, where a lower level smooths out more."

Patient- "You're an idiot doc!"

Dr. Hoverfly- "Ok, take 2 of these and call me in the morning."
Dr. Hoverfly- "We may have to make an appointment to talk to a specialist."

Kloner, I'm new to HF also but would check the following in no particular order. Trims on the TX. In HFSetup do all of the controls move when the TX is on and there is power to the ship? Do the switches that control the flight modes work correctly on the General tab? Make sure that Alt Hold isn't engaged. I found on my MX-20 that I had to reverse some switch positions. On the Pro Info tab are the Temperature and Accelerometer Calibration status checked? Assuming that all of these are correct the only thing I can think of that would be left is the suggestions on expo.

I found that on my CS8 that I need a primary gain setting of 100-120 to have smooth flight along with a 30 expo setting on the ale/rud. At the starting 25 point fugedaboutit. That was a quick 6 inches off of the ground ride.

Lastly quit flying in 60mph winds....:)

there is no weird d/r,,, there is expo, but i'm just trying to get this ting to go, finally get it's but in the air, get rollin then without me inputing or changing a t thing, it's flaring up level and sitting there..... i made a short video of it all from today,,, i'll make one from the live feed that's not a gimbled shot and see if anybody notices anything. it's almost like it's failsafing cause i still have the model and no dirt naps.

the only thing i can't answer yet is the manual mode part. i aint given that a shot yet......

my gains are 27

4:05 is that deal,,,, i was holding the cyclic forward and it pitches up to flat. 5:20 looks like more....

heres the live feed of it. once i leave if the nose is up and it's rising and falling, that's the problem i'm asking about. the whole time i'm just trying to make it go faster......

after watching it over and over i'm gonna give manual a shot and see what that's like but got a question. my manual mode looks good line of sight but in a camera it's a nervous look. is that too low of gains? there is zero oscilating, everything seems loose and not very locked in.... say if i'm flying along for a stretch and touch the gains during the flight,,, is that safe? don't want to make it mad

Have you checked your artificial horizon in the setup client? Is it level when the HoverflyPro is level? If not, you may need to run the accelerometer calibration. Make sure the setup client says v4.6 on the bottom. Also make sure you have v4.6 firmware flashed to your HoverflyPro. If that doesn't help your horizon, let us know by filling out a support ticket. http://hoverflytech.zendesk.com. It's hard to keep up with all of the threads.

Hopefully this solves the problem. Make sure to double check your horizon in the setup client as this has a big impact on how autoleveling mode works. Temperature compensation would definitely make a big difference.
