Been out of RC for a long time (40yrs.), boy have things changed, most notably the existence of multirotor model aircraft. So I've been flying and crashing a little Nano QX in preparation for building and flying (and crashing) something larger. Looking forward to learning and sharing on the forums.

Yes, I too was out for quite awhile. New radios, receivers, flight controllers, batteries, on and on. It seems to be moving much, much faster than the computer thing. I also have noticed in the past few days, prices are going up too. The old supply and demand thing. About the time we get all stoked up with multirotors and equipment, the gobment will probably come along and tell us we can't fly them no more, without a license, insurance, permits, etc. etc. When/if they do that, it will just add to my list of criminal activity's I guess. Strange thing, this old world........................

As one colleague said after a tech update seminar.....
"learning new technology is like trying to take a sip of water from a high pressure fire hose"!!!
I too miss the days of simply filling up the fuel tank and flying mt RC plane with only 4 or 5 channels..... the battery TLC stresses me still.

I suppose the good news is that you rarely have to concern yourself with channels or interference any longer since it is all digital and most aircraft can be programmed to return to home with the right hardware. I have my 80 year old Dad flying around a camera quad. :nevreness: Good times! Good luck and welcome back.

IrisAerial - I'm a California native and although there are plenty of things wrong here I love having flying weather almost all year long.
gtranquilla - Lots to catch up on, even though I've been out of the RC loop for a while my entire working life has been spent in Silicon Valley where you have to be constantly learning or you stagnate.
cootertwo - Like everyone else I'm waiting for the FAA shoe to drop and seriously damage the hobby.
Debian Dog - The changes in radio systems are definitely cool, having done a little spread spectrum design I was really impressed to see it being implemented at the RC level. My first intro to RC was with a friend who flew a single channel escapement system that was driven by a rubber band.
