Droidworx Y6 - bit for fettling advice please

FINALLY, after months of farting about the droidworx Y6 took to the sky (low hover) this evening.

Started out as a MK upgrade but is now (and finally) a wkm build (with HW 30A sec's, the smaller of the two Torxpower motors and graupner 10" props)

Initial teething problems were, as they are in 99% of cases, down to user set-up errors.

I am however experiencing a Yaw issue which i'd like some advice on.

Initially at 100% gain it was slowly and continuously circling. I upped the gain to 180% and that seems to have got rid of most of it but it still seems to want to Yaw clockwise (birds eye view). Pitch and roll are at 175% Attitude pitch and roll are at 120%

Is it just a case of increasing the Yaw gain some more or am i missing something else?

I have to say that even with just one lipo pack of initial fettling, she flies in a very stable and planted way. Just fantastic.

I'm going to feel a lot more confident flying her with the WKM.

One other DX8 related issue.

I tried to set my DX8 up so that X2 and X3 are controlled with the left and right trim rockers.

X2 on the gear channel works ok, but X3 on Aux3 channel seem to be mixing somewhere. In use it moves the X3 slider, but it's also moving the flight mode 'U' slider too.

I can't seem to locate the mix which is causing this.

Initially i switched of any and all mixing options i could find, but this totally screwed up the flight control, so i reset the model, rest set the Tx in the wkm assistant - which had her flying correctly again.

This isn't a major issue as i'm happy using the netbook to fiddle with the gains, but it would be good to know what's happening - if anyone knows.

GoPro is pretty duff in low light, but hopefully the yaw issue and slight drift are obvious…

You can hear me clicking the yaw trim to try and slow the turn rate. I'm constantly giving some left stick input to keep it straight - but as soon as i centre the stick the yaw happens.

Try basics at 290 Yaw with 280 pitch and roll and 200 on vertical and the atti gains at 65 to 70 and see how you like it that way.

Plant the Y6 on a level surface. Take a ruler and check bottom prop tips to make sure they are parallel through 380º to the surface.. THEN check tho top motors.. with the DW mounts its VERY important to make sure the top and bottom motors are perfectly aligned. I use a feeler gauge between the top and bottom motor mounts to make sure they are the same AND double check alignment of the props to the surface.. ALL measurements should be the same.. trust me it takes an age to get um all the same but when you do its a camera on a rock steady pole!..

:upset:

just been carefully looking at the motor mounts and they're ALL on the wonk. FFS

the motor mounts top and bottom are correctly/equally spaced, the issue appears to be that the locating hole for the mount isnt in line with the holes for the centre plate mounts. so they mounts are all slightly angled - not perpendicular to the ground - in the direction to create the yaw.

i've contacted my supplier 'in the netherlands' but slightly concerned that this is now going to become a royal PIA.

My ADX standard did not have the holes or the dimples on the motor mounts. The dimples very easily come off. There is also some play at the centre plate end so slacken the tube clamps and see if you can straighten them that way. Just the slightest movement moved the prop tips.. Make sure the bolts that clamp the motor mount are evenly tightened and the gaps between the tow halves are matching..

Good luck with the neverlander!
