DJI Flame Wheel F330(or 450) vs Storm Drone FF

Hello everybody! I have a few questions about my first Quadrotor. This is my first post, so I had no clue where to put it. Since one of the prospects has a NAZA in it, I figured here might do.

What I want the droid to do is FPV flight. I have my eyes on a STORM Drone FF, as it's cheap(ish) and seems good for beginners. It also includes a linked remote and everything to get flying (without FPV). However, it doesn't have the legendary NAZA controller that the DJI Flame Wheel has. I also would really like to get some first hand experience assembling a drone.

What worries me: FPV equipment (for the strangest reason) is very costly, and I don't have a job, so my budget is kind of tight. The Storm Drone appeals to my bank account, and has a higher advertised take-off weight, but doesn't actually say how much it weighs to begin with. The F330 on the other hand, has a lower rated takeoff weight, but specifies it's frame weight (excluding remote receiver, a to-be Turnigy 9x). I also have some control over the remote with the F330, and I know which one I'm going for. The Storm Drone, on the other hand, has an included DEVO 7. But if you crunch the numbers, the Turnigy and the Storm Drone cost about the same as the F330 frame kit. So that leads to my final thought: The Flame Wheel costs almost $100 more! So, do I get the punch for the extra cash? Does anybody have any experience with these drones? Is the Storm Drone a good buy, or will it fly 10 feet and fall dead?

Thank you for your time.

I can't tell you about the Storm Drone... Most of us start with a DJI F450 or 550. The 450 over your 350 is about $10 more, the 350 is slightly smaller and can be thrown around more then the slightly larger models. FPV, 350 is probably not what you need, I think it will be too small.

I've never looked into the F450. The kits I found always seemed too expensive. I guess I never looked well enough, because I found one for 420. I practically raped Google looking for the difference, and did a few searches here too. Thanks for the answer!

I never noticed that before! It totally looks just like an upside-down F450! Any idea what controller it uses?

It uses an FF Gyro seen here http://www.helipal.com/storm-droneff-009-ff-gyro-broad.html

You can use about anything to do FPV, the 450 works out nice if you have a go pro or something. At some point I want to buy a TBS Discovery frame (Team Black Sheep), now that frame is designed for FPV and distance. See video here... http://youtu.be/BqAhJv32vlQ

I know you're working on a budget, but consider what you need to do, and what money you can spare. It might save you a lot in the long run.

By the way, the TBS Disco, is a 450 with the body removed. You use everything from your Kit, to build the Disco.

Thank you to everybody who helped me out today. I really appreciate it! Hopefully one day I can also become a 'Full Blown Hucker'.
