DJI-F550 auto lift off

Hi
I have a DJI F-550 with GPS that has been working well. Today, whilst I had the thing on tick over for about 40 seconds, it suddenly took off and went to about 60 feet. Controls were un-responsive and it just sat there. After about another 40 seconds it slowly came down and landed as if in RTH mode although it had not flown away from its take off point, just straight up! Running latest firmware, not noticed this before on many flights, however I have never had the motors on tick over for that length of time before. Am I missing something in the manual or more likely a few brain cells!!!
Running a Martinez brushless gimbal and 5.8GHz downlink with Go pro camera and OSD.:)

ribbon,

this has come up before...when you say "tick over" do you mean the motors were turning but the helicopter was sitting on the ground for 40 seconds?

Hi Bartman

No, it has never done it before, as I said, never had the thing running at low tick over for a length of time, yes 40 seconds or thereabouts, tick over was just above 10% throttle and nowhere near the 50% lift off point.

we've discussed this at the site before. go into NAZA Assistant and verify that the sliders for Aileron-Elevator-Rudder are centered when the sticks are centered. the heli was running so when you didn't do anything it thought it was experiencing a fly away. do you have advanced receiver protection enabled?

Yes, receiver protection enabled, using Spektrum DX8 with AR8000 rx dual diversity, and after this happened I checked the settings in Assistant and all was correctly calibrated..thats a long way to go from say 12% throttle to it deciding it wanted to power up!!

If you have the advanced receiver protection enabled and it does not see any input for ~10 or 20 seconds it invokes the RTH, in your case going up to the pre determined return home height and then coming back down,

Thanks soler, that has explained it and put my mind at rest, tried later flight and it worked fine!
