DJI F550 and Wookong M - First Setup

Hello everyone, I've decided to give this a go. I have a DJI F550 and a Wookong M, with the Spektrum DX8. I've got it all together after taking it apart and putting it back together several times, and got it spun it for the first time last night. However, I need some advice on setting the gains (but the way what is a gain? Is it somehow amplifying the power or something?), setting put he failsafes, and all that before I try to fly it. I've also ordered the DragonFlyer X4, but its two or three months out so I really want to get comfortable flying the F550 before the DragonFlyer get here. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated, also, any links both within the forum or on the web would be very helpful. I've been doing google searches and have found some invaluable resources already.

I might be wrong but the term "gain" is one of three terms that has to do with PID feedback loop control in the world of automation.
PID stands for Proportional, Integral and Derivative. Proportional is also referred to as "gain", integral is referred to Reset, and Derivative is simply "derivative" which is a predictive aspect of control algorithms. In the R/C world you might only need to deal with "Gain".
For additional information look up PID loop control on the internet. Integration and Derivative are fundemental functions of Calculus.
