I solder the capacitor arms and the battery leads onto the pads at the same time. Trying to solder the cap on later is very difficult. Try to mount the cap in a convenient spot where it's away from other electronics but still protected in a crash. You'll see in the attached pic that I actually added a very short lead to the cap so I could mount it where I wanted
