Can't get my GPS working :-( :-( :-(

set up is f450 w naza and gps, using DX6i tx. when i plug everything in, after a few green flashes on the VU, the red flashes start up and persist, in various combinations of one, two and three, and then at some point all the VU lights go out. there's no green flash at all. and then if you shake the quad a little, the red flashes start flashing again. can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong? i'm hoping it's user error of some kind! see vid for demonstration of issue.

Hi Linter, I'm new, so might not be best info. Which way is front on your machine? If its the red arms, it looks like the GPS is pointing the wrong way. The red arrow on top should be facing forward.

Have you put the correct settings into Assistant for it's position?

If your in GPS mode, you should get a green flashing light, followed by several red lights as it searches for satellites. The LESS red flashing, the MORE sats it's fouond. If you get a lock on 6 sats., it will falsh green on it's own, or green + 1 red flash.
If you're indoors, you might not be gettting a signal.

ah-ha! you have to have the TX in GPS mode for it to lock onto satellites? I did not know that. I kind of figured if you are connected to a GPS, it hooks up to satellites and it doesn't matter what mode you are in -- gps, attitude or M -- but only in gps mode would the gps actually work. hmmm. does that mean every time you go from, say, attitude mode back to GPS mode, it has to connect to the satellites all over again? that seems kind of ... precarious.

No, once it's found the satellites it's locked in and doesn't have to rescan if you change to atti or manual and back to GPS. You just have to remember to give it time to lock into the satellites when you start your system in GPS mode.

Linter, it hasn't been mentioned and I can't see from the video but can you confirm that the Naza is also pointing towards the front.

Yup, it's *now* pointing to the front, thanks to you. But the big news is, I got everything assembled to the best of my ability and actually got the bird to lift off and hover a bit, in both GPS and attitude modes. Wowza! What a thrill!!!!
I found attitude easier to control today, probably because the GPS needs some tinkering; in that mode, the f450 tended to drift to the right, a little unsteadily. My understanding is to never fix such matters with trim, so I am going to refrain and maybe see if the declination needs adjusting. I did calibrate the GPS but I could have messed that up, too.
